Mazon Creek is a Lagerstätte, a fossil locality that has an uncommon set of depositional and preservational situations that allows for the exceptional preservation of plant and animal materials. These are all animals that, all through most of Earth’s geological history, lived in a large number of habitats including marine, freshwater, and terrestrial.
