Camping Ideas for a Sustainable Environment
Camping is the act of staying in the wilderness overnight, for one or a few days. It is a fun-filled activity that people engage in. It has a primal connection to nature, as an activity.
There is usually a lot of human interference to the balance of nature when people are out camping, most of it not positive. There are those who will cut down a tree, and others who will use it as a dumpsite.
As much as camping is fun, it is even more so when you leave behind a better environment than you found. You can do certain things to help this process along.
At some point, you will need to go for a call of nature. You will need a safe method of going so that will not spoil the very same nature you are presently residing in.
You will find certain campsite with toilets you can use for this. This makes it easy for those present there to go. For those further deep in nature, things can get complicated. You need to have carried toilet paper, and find a spot that is far from any water source. Dig a hole, take care of the call, then cover the hole properly with the dug dirt. Put the used toilet paper in a polythene bag you brought along, for disposal in an appropriate receptacle later.
You are likely to encounter bugs while out camping. You are advised to carry a bug spray, but only one that is non-toxic. Toxic ones are not good for the environment.
Apart from the tent that you shall go back with when you leave, you also need to bring along other items such as utensils which you can use and wash then carry back home. There are scouting time lessons that shall come in handy then. Use the Woven Label HK to ensure your equipment is well marked.
You should carry a small portable and foldable basin and biodegradable soap. You need to also have a breathable bag for all those napkins you will not be recycling. You also need to have cutlery and other cooking items that you can rewash and use.
You will have a much better time while camping when you know you have done all you can to leave the environment better than you found it. You will have a positive impact on the environment, or not affect it too much, at least.
You are allowed to take happy memories from the trip. For whatever reasons you decided to go camping, be it for fun or for more academic reasons such as camping, do not allow your presence to be the reasons why the environment is left in such a terrible state.
Do not take your time lighting up the wood, or cutting trees for some, or the greenery for space. Do not move any stones, or make the water dirty. Respect the environment.
